The Architect:
Ernest Charles Shearman 1859 – 1939
Shearman was commissioned to build St
Gabriel's as part of a push for new
churches in the 1920’s. The present
building was dedicated by The Rt Revd
and Rt Hon Arthur Fowley Winington
Ingram on the 18th July 1931. The building
is perhaps the least complete of his
work. Fine examples of the style of
his work may be seen at
St Silas the
Martyr, Kentish Town, St
Francis of Assisi, Isleworth,
and St Barnabas, North Ealing. |
