Worship at St Gabriel's Anglican
Parish Church is in a relaxed
Catholic tradition and it is centred
upon the Holy Eucharist. Parish
Communion on a Sunday at 10.30
a.m. is our main focus. It lasts
just over an hour with hymns,
scripture readings and a sermon
– as well as some incense! It
is assisted by a small team of
servers and a music group. (We
are always happy to have new members
for either of these – no experience
necessary…)
While we provide a crèche so
that parents or carers can entertain
very young children, for most
of the year (during school terms)
we offer a Junior Church for
children and younger teenagers.
The Junior Church usually splits
into three age groups for appropriate
instruction, craft activities
or discussions.
The Eucharist is celebrated
daily during the week, and lasts
about 25 minutes. On Saturdays
at 12 noon, we have a ‘Mass
for Healing’ which includes
the laying on of hands and,
for those who wish, anointing.
All Age Worship takes place
monthly, usually on the first
Sunday of the month – though
it is best to check on the events
page. This lasts just under
an hour and is based on a theme
or Christian Festival.
Once a month, following an
evening celebration of the Eucharist,
we have what we call ‘Silent
Music’. This is 25 minutes of
contemplative prayer before
our Lord present with us in
the Blessed Sacrament. It is
a gentle, quiet, particularly
prayerful and atmospheric moment
held in the Lady Chapel.
